agguaq   ᐊᒡᒍᐊᖅ

Type: transitive verb root

Meaning:
[-R]to /patch s.t. (a garment) in overlap fashion
  • with transitive ending:
    • to patch it (a garment) in overlap fashion
    • ex.: agguaqtara
  • with intransitive ending, an antipassive suffix*, and an object:
    • to patch s.t. (-mik) (a garment) in overlap fashion
    • ex.: agguaqsijuq
  • with intransitive ending, no antipassive suffix, in the passive mode:
    • to be patched (a garment) in overlap fashion
    • ex.: agguaqtuq

*Antipassive suffix

  • when used with intransitive suffixes or verb endings and an object, in order for the verb NOT to be interpreted passively or reflexively, this verb root must be followed by the antipassive suffix si1vv: agguaqsijuq
