Type: transitive verb root

Alternative form: ajugiq

Meaning:
[-R]to /teach or /instruct s.o. one thing one time
  • with transitive ending:
    • to teach or instruct him/her one thing one time
    • ex.: ajuqiqtara
  • with intransitive ending, an antipassive suffix*, and an object:
    • to teach or instruct s.o. (-mik) one thing one time
    • ex.: ajuqiijuq
  • with intransitive ending, no antipassive suffix, in the passive mode:
    • to be taught or be instructed one thing one time
    • ex.: ajuqiqtuq

*Antipassive suffix

  • when used with intransitive suffixes or verb endings and an object, in order for the verb NOT to be interpreted passively or reflexively, this verb root must be followed by the antipassive suffix i1vv: ajuqiijuq
