aptiq   ᐊᑉᑎᖅ

Type: transitive verb root

Meaning:
to /scatter or /strew s.t. about
  • with transitive ending:
    • to scatter or strew it about
    • ex.: aptiqtara
  • with intransitive ending, an antipassive suffix*, and an object:
    • to scatter or strew s.t. (-mik) about
    • ex.: aptiijuq
  • with intransitive ending, no antipassive suffix, in the reflexive mode:
    • to scatter or strew itself about
    • ex.: aptiqtuq
  • with intransitive ending, no antipassive suffix, in the passive mode:
    • to be scattered or be strewed about
    • ex.: aptiqtuq

*Antipassive suffix

  • when used with intransitive suffixes or verb endings and an object, in order for the verb NOT to be interpreted passively or reflexively, this verb root must be followed by the antipassive suffix i1vv: aptiijuq
