Type: transitive verb root

Meaning:
[-R]to /meet with s.t.
  • with transitive ending:
    • to meet with it
    • ex.: apuqtara
  • with intransitive ending, an antipassive suffix*, and an object:
    • to meet with s.t. (-mik)
    • ex.: apuijuq
  • with intransitive ending, no antipassive suffix, in the passive mode:
    • to be met with
    • ex.: apuqtuq

*Antipassive suffix

  • when used with intransitive suffixes or verb endings and an object, in order for the verb NOT to be interpreted passively or reflexively, this verb root must be followed by one of the antipassive suffixes i1vv si1vv: apuijuq apuqsijuq
