Type: transitive verb root

Alternative form: ajjaq

Meaning:
[-R]to /carry s.t. in the arms
  • with transitive ending:
    • to carry it in the arms
    • ex.: arjaqtara
  • with intransitive ending, an antipassive suffix*, and an object:
    • to carry s.t. (-mik) in the arms
    • ex.: arjaqsijuq
  • with intransitive ending, no antipassive suffix, in the passive mode:
    • to be carried in the arms
    • ex.: arjaqtuq

*Antipassive suffix

  • when used with intransitive suffixes or verb endings and an object, in order for the verb NOT to be interpreted passively or reflexively, this verb root must be followed by the antipassive suffix si1vv: arjaqsijuq
