kakkit   ᑲᒃᑭᑦ

Type: transitive verb root

Meaning:
to /wipe s.o.'s nose or upper-lip area
  • with transitive ending:
    • to wipe him/her 's nose or upper-lip area
    • ex.: kakkittara
  • with intransitive ending, an antipassive suffix*, and an object:
    • to wipe s.o. (-mik) 's nose or upper-lip area
    • ex.: kakkitsijuq
  • with intransitive ending, no antipassive suffix, in the reflexive mode:
    • to wipe oneself 's nose or upper-lip area
    • ex.: kakkittuq
  • with intransitive ending, no antipassive suffix, in the passive mode:
    • to be wiped 's nose or upper-lip area
    • ex.: kakkittuq

*Antipassive suffix

  • when used with intransitive suffixes or verb endings and an object, in order for the verb NOT to be interpreted passively or reflexively, this verb root must be followed by the antipassive suffix si1vv: kakkitsijuq
