Type: transitive verb root

Meaning:
to /spill or /pour s.t. out (liquid)
  • with transitive ending:
    • to spill or pour it out (liquid)
    • ex.: kuvijara
  • with intransitive ending, an antipassive suffix*, and an object:
    • to spill or pour s.t. (-mik) out (liquid)
    • ex.: kuvisijuq
  • with intransitive ending, no antipassive suffix, in the reflexive mode:
    • to spill or pour out (liquid)
    • ex.: kuvijuq
  • with intransitive ending, no antipassive suffix, in the passive mode:
    • to be spilt or be poured out (liquid)
    • ex.: kuvijuq

*Antipassive suffix

  • when used with intransitive suffixes or verb endings and an object, in order for the verb NOT to be interpreted passively or reflexively, this verb root must be followed by the antipassive suffix si1vv: kuvisijuq
