Type: transitive verb root

Meaning:
to /set s.t. right, straight, in proper position
  • with transitive ending:
    • to set it right, straight, in proper position
    • ex.: makittara
  • with intransitive ending, an antipassive suffix*, and an object:
    • to set s.t. (-mik) right, straight, in proper position
    • ex.: makitsijuq
  • with intransitive ending, no antipassive suffix, in the reflexive mode:
    • to set itself right, straight, in proper position
    • ex.: makittuq
  • with intransitive ending, no antipassive suffix, in the passive mode:
    • to be set right, straight, in proper position
    • ex.: makittuq

*Antipassive suffix

  • when used with intransitive suffixes or verb endings and an object, in order for the verb NOT to be interpreted passively or reflexively, this verb root must be followed by the antipassive suffix si1vv: makitsijuq
