Type: transitive verb root

Meaning:
[-R]to /mislead s.o. playfully or /deceive s.o.
  • with transitive ending:
    • to mislead him/her playfully or deceive s.o.
    • ex.: mangattara
  • with intransitive ending, an antipassive suffix*, and an object:
    • to mislead s.o. (-mik) playfully or deceive s.o.
    • ex.: mangatsijuq
  • with intransitive ending, no antipassive suffix, in the passive mode:
    • to be misleaded playfully or be deceived s.o.
    • ex.: mangattuq

*Antipassive suffix

  • when used with intransitive suffixes or verb endings and an object, in order for the verb NOT to be interpreted passively or reflexively, this verb root must be followed by the antipassive suffix si1vv: mangatsijuq
