Type: transitive verb root

Meaning:
[-R](1) to /charge at s.o.(harmful intention) (2) to /catch s.t. by jumping
  • with transitive ending:
    • 1. 1. to charge at him/her (harmful intention)
    • 2. 2. to catch it by jumping
    • ex.: minngiqtara
  • with intransitive ending, an antipassive suffix*, and an object:
    • 1. 1. to charge at s.o. (-mik) (harmful intention)
    • 2. 2. to catch s.t. (-mik) by jumping
    • ex.: minngiijuq
  • with intransitive ending, no antipassive suffix, in the passive mode:
    • 1. 1. to be charged at (harmful intention)
    • 2. 2. to be caught by jumping
    • ex.: minngiqtuq

*Antipassive suffix

  • when used with intransitive suffixes or verb endings and an object, in order for the verb NOT to be interpreted passively or reflexively, this verb root must be followed by the antipassive suffix i1vv: minngiijuq
