Type: transitive verb root

Meaning:
to /cut or /wound s.o. with a dull or blunt instrument or object
  • with transitive ending:
    • to cut or wound him/her with a dull or blunt instrument or object
    • ex.: paggiqtara
  • with intransitive ending, an antipassive suffix*, and an object:
    • to cut or wound s.o. (-mik) with a dull or blunt instrument or object
    • ex.: paggiijuq
  • with intransitive ending, no antipassive suffix, in the reflexive mode:
    • to cut or wound oneself with a dull or blunt instrument or object
    • ex.: paggiqtuq
  • with intransitive ending, no antipassive suffix, in the passive mode:
    • to be cut or be wounded with a dull or blunt instrument or object
    • ex.: paggiqtuq

*Antipassive suffix

  • when used with intransitive suffixes or verb endings and an object, in order for the verb NOT to be interpreted passively or reflexively, this verb root must be followed by the antipassive suffix i1vv: paggiijuq
