Meaning:
to /look after s.o. (a child) in absence of the parents
- with transitive ending:
- to look after him/her (a child) in absence of the parents
- ex.: paqijara
- with intransitive ending, an antipassive suffix*, and an object:
- to look after s.o. (-mik) (a child) in absence of the parents
- ex.: paqisijuq
- with intransitive ending, no antipassive suffix, in the reflexive mode:
- to look after oneself (a child) in absence of the parents
- ex.: paqijuq
- with intransitive ending, no antipassive suffix, in the passive mode:
- to be looked after (a child) in absence of the parents
- ex.: paqijuq
*Antipassive suffix
- when used with intransitive suffixes or verb endings and an object, in order for the verb NOT to be interpreted passively or reflexively, this verb root must be followed by the antipassive suffix si1vv: paqisijuq
