Type: transitive verb root

Meaning:
to /bend s.t. over
  • with transitive ending:
    • to bend it over
    • ex.: pirittara
  • with intransitive ending, an antipassive suffix*, and an object:
    • to bend s.t. (-mik) over
    • ex.: piritsijuq
  • with intransitive ending, no antipassive suffix, in the reflexive mode:
    • to bend itself over
    • ex.: pirittuq
  • with intransitive ending, no antipassive suffix, in the passive mode:
    • to be bent over
    • ex.: pirittuq

*Antipassive suffix

  • when used with intransitive suffixes or verb endings and an object, in order for the verb NOT to be interpreted passively or reflexively, this verb root must be followed by the antipassive suffix si1vv: piritsijuq
