Type: transitive verb root

Meaning:
[-R]to /pry s.t. off
  • with transitive ending:
    • to pry it off
    • ex.: qirliraqtara
  • with intransitive ending, an antipassive suffix*, and an object:
    • to pry s.t. (-mik) off
    • ex.: qirliraijuq
  • with intransitive ending, no antipassive suffix, in the passive mode:
    • to be pried off
    • ex.: qirliraqtuq

*Antipassive suffix

  • when used with intransitive suffixes or verb endings and an object, in order for the verb NOT to be interpreted passively or reflexively, this verb root must be followed by one of the antipassive suffixes i1vv si1vv: qirliraijuq qirliraqsijuq
