Type: transitive verb root

Meaning:
[-R]to /put s.t. down in front
  • with transitive ending:
    • to put it down in front
    • ex.: sagvaqtara
  • with intransitive ending, an antipassive suffix*, and an object:
    • to put s.t. (-mik) down in front
    • ex.: sagvaijuq
  • with intransitive ending, no antipassive suffix, in the passive mode:
    • to be put down in front
    • ex.: sagvaqtuq

*Antipassive suffix

  • when used with intransitive suffixes or verb endings and an object, in order for the verb NOT to be interpreted passively or reflexively, this verb root must be followed by the antipassive suffix i1vv: sagvaijuq
