sirmiq   ᓯᕐᒥᖅ

Type: transitive verb root

Meaning:
[-R]to /give s.t. an ice coating by hand [R]to ice up
  • with transitive ending:
    • to give it an ice coating by hand
    • ex.: sirmiqtara
  • with intransitive ending, an antipassive suffix*, and an object:
    • to give s.t. (-mik) an ice coating by hand
    • ex.: sirmiqsijuq
  • with intransitive ending, no antipassive suffix, in the passive mode:
    • to be given an ice coating by hand
    • ex.: sirmiqtuq

*Antipassive suffix

  • when used with intransitive suffixes or verb endings and an object, in order for the verb NOT to be interpreted passively or reflexively, this verb root must be followed by the antipassive suffix si1vv: sirmiqsijuq
