Type: transitive verb root

Meaning:
[-R](1) to /oil or /grease s.t. (2) to /puncture s.t.
  • with transitive ending:
    • 1. 1. to oil or grease it
    • 2. 2. to puncture it
    • ex.: ursiqtara
  • with intransitive ending, an antipassive suffix*, and an object:
    • 1. 1. to oil or grease s.t. (-mik)
    • 2. 2. to puncture s.t. (-mik)
    • ex.: ursiqsijuq
  • with intransitive ending, no antipassive suffix, in the passive mode:
    • 1. 1. to be oiled or be greased
    • 2. 2. to be punctured
    • ex.: ursiqtuq

*Antipassive suffix

  • when used with intransitive suffixes or verb endings and an object, in order for the verb NOT to be interpreted passively or reflexively, this verb root must be followed by the antipassive suffix si1vv: ursiqsijuq
